The Magic of Disney
I've always been a bit sceptical about people talking about the 'Disney feeling' or the 'Magic of Disney', but after our trip to Disneyland Paris last week, I gotta agree with them. I definitely felt something while walking around the park, listening to the tunes, looking at all the characters and theming and so on.
The trip took 4 days, from monday till thursday. Monday consisted primarily of travelling by bus to our destination; Hotel ... euhm... something. I really don't know the name. What I do know is that our hotel was the one you saw on television when that Concorde crashed just outside Paris in 2000.
See that white building with all the fire department trucks around it? Well that was our hotel. The big piles of sand nowadays still remember the French of the tragedy which occured 5 years ago.
Anyways after settling in our hotel, we made a bus tour around Paris. Had some sort of dinner in a small bistro near the Eiffel Tower after which we made tour by boat on the Seine. To get a beautiful overview of Paris by Night, we took the 'Tour de Montparnasse'. The Montparnasse is the highest office building in Paris, around 230 meters high. The elevator ride took about a minute to get us fiftynine stories higher.

After 'climbing' the Montparnasse it was time to take the bus to the Eiffel Tower to make some pictures. It was during that ride that my stomach started objecting. On the Montparnasse my stomach was already making weird noised and aching a bit, but when we almost arrived at the tower I really needed one of the garbage bags hanging around in the bus. While the other passengers tried to make nightshots of the tower, I spent my time in of the beautiful public parks around it. It's a weird feeling, looking up, seeing that mighty tower, looking down, seeing the ugliness I just dumped there.
That night I didn't get much sleep, I did take a closer look at the bathroom in our hotelroom more then one time though. The next day I stayed in the hotel, resting and stronging up, while my parents and brother were having fun in Disneyland. Fortunately the next day (wednesday) I was fully recovered and we visited the Movies Studios. So I didn't see much of the actual Disney park unfortunately. However I did take a ride in Space Mountain, watched the 3D movie 'Honey I shrunk the audience' and the 'Legend of the Lion King' show. And ofcourse, not to miss, the Christmas Light Parade on Main Street.
The last day, thursday, consisted of packing, a quick visit to the Sacre Coeur in Paris, the McDonalds in Maastricht and in between travelling back home by bus. After all it was a great trip, with, not to forget, a great and funny bus driver (Ben!). Too bad I had to miss one day, but on the bright side I now got an excuse to go back one day :-)
Ofcourse you can find an (edited) selection of the almost 512 megabytes of photos and movies I took with my Z750 in their set on my Flickr account.
