$1000 Contest
Last week I posted an article about extensions for Firefox. It seems that I have missed one of them, namely Performancing. With this plugin bloggers will be able to post an entry to their website directly from the website they are posting about. It installs a button in the lower right corner of your Firefox window, which will split your view window in two. The upper part being whatever you were currently viewing and the lower part being one large form with all the necessary input fields for an blog entry. It works with Pivot, the backbone of this website, using the Metaweblog API and ofcourse with other weblog software. Take notice that you do need the latest version of Firefox: 1.5.
Anyways, back to the point of my story. While I haven't been trying or actually using Performancing long enough to know if it is any good, I do know that starting a contest with prize money being a 1.000 dollars is quite amazing. I wouldn't have found out about the contest if it wasn't for Marco posting about it on his weblog. But with such a prize for the winner, even I, with my limited skills (if any at all), is willing to take a shot at it. You can view my submission on their website. I didn't e-mail them, but posted my creations as a comment on the entry about the contest. That way, hopefully, somebody will comment on it and perhaps give some tips and fair criticism.
Three banners had to be designed with resolutions of 160 x 160, 32 and 15 pixels. The only other requirement was the logo of Performancing being used. The winner will be announced monday 23rd. Here are my submissions, let's see if luck is on my side ;-)
