The week of May 1st
While most of you are probably outside, enjoying the sun. I'm inside, working a shift at the AriensZorgpalet, earning back some of the bucks I've spent last week. I must say, a week which I fully enjoyed.
After submitting our report for the Image Processing course, it was time to relax. Tuesday evening was reserved for the monthly STORES meeting, this times at 'Huize Op Kruipafstand', downtown Enschede. Situated above one of the pubs, hanging out of the attic window we had an excellent view. Combine that with a couple of Hoegaardens and the special beers consumed at the Speciaal Bier OP=OP Borrel beforehand and you can imagine it was stress-free evening.
Wednesday evening, we continued enjoying the beautiful weather in front of Cafe De Beiaard. Again with some special beers. Reason, wednesday night special beer from the bottle being 50% cheaper.
Thursday evening, the RvA and the board of my study association Scintilla had a nice Chinese take-away dinner outside on the lawn. The first I am currently and the latter I was a member of in 2001/2002. We had some good discussion about the future of our association and the upcoming move to a new building. Ofcourse we held 2 minutes of silence, to remember all those who died for our freedom!
After some extra sleep friday morning, we celebrated the 5th of May. The date on which, in 1945, The Netherlands we're freed from the Axis by the Allies. A perfect excuse to incite some Dutch artists to make a performance on the 'Oude Markt' in Enschede. From a table at De Geus we enjoyed performances of Ali B, Henk Westbroek and The Greatest band on Earth.com. After Ali B, a meal and an ice cream from Van der Poels, Jovink en de Voederbietels closed the night with a magnificent performance. Especially Tante Riki gave one hell of a show with her "Halleluja"! Anyways those guys know how to rock & roll and well... drink beer I guess?!
Yesterday it was time again to relax, this time in the garden. Controlling a high pressure cleaner (?) and getting covered in flying mud. Even though it ain't a clean job, it's fun to do, especially when the result is a terrace in it original colors instead of green/blackish.
The shift of today concludes the week, except for some homework I'll have to do tonight. What did I do in between the above activities? Well, I tried to study some now and then ;)
